Boat Ride!

On January 31st, we rode the boat from Taiwan to Fuzhou!

 The boat we rode was big and spacious.  Unlike an airplane, you can easily walk around, and there is lots of leg room.



There is even a place on the boat to buy food!


The view outside the window of the boat was very beautiful! Here is the view when we were about to depart from Taiwan:

There were instructions in the seat pocket about what to do in an emergency:


Thankfully, we didn't have an emergency on the boat!

After the boat departed from the harbor, I fell asleep. Two hours later, I awoke to the voice of the announcer saying, "We have just passed the midline between the waters of Taiwan to the waters of China."

 The boat ride was pretty smooth.
About 2 hours later, we arrived in Fuzhou!

Playgrounds in Israel

We got to visit lots of playgrounds in Israel! They are different from the ones in the U.S. and they are really fun! This playground was in the Old City, Jerusalem.  The swing was really fun! The park was really fun! You could slide down and also climb up! Sliding down! There were also two long blue slides! We also got to visit two parks in Tel Aviv. The first park was like an amusement park. It had like 20+ swings! This park also had two of the swings that we saw in Jerusalem! This park also had a giant playground with at least 12 slides! There was something that you could go on and it would take you down to the ground! Near this park in Tel Aviv was another park. It was really fun, too. Up in the air! Beijing to Vancouver...

We're up in the air again! This time, from Beijing to Vancouver (we'll be transferring there)! The wind was big and strong today, but the sky was blue and the clouds were white and puffy. We waited in the plane for a while, because it was not safe to fly in such a strong wind. Meanwhile, we were busy taking pictures! Freckles the bunny on the plane:  Anabel: As usual, there was a Safety Booklet that taught you about what to do in the case of an emergency. Also located in the pocket of the seat in front of you was a magazine: Air Canada's magazine. The magazine was mostly about duty-free items for sale, advertisements, and news articles, but there was also a fun puzzle inside! There was also a description of the planes in the Air Canada fleet. Making Homemade Sweet Mochi!

Below is the recipe for homemade sweet mochi! This is a great and delicious recipe to try out! Due to the pandemic, many of us are spending more hours at home than we used to. One of the best ways to spend time building your relationships with your family is by cooking something delicious together! Not only will you have fun in the process, but you'll also have a delicious treat to enjoy in the end! Ingredients: Glutinous Rice flour/Sweet Rice flour - 1 cup Water - 3/4 cup Sugar - 3 tablespoons (optional, can exclude to be more healthy) Cornstarch - amount varies (you can also use some other edible powder, like powdered sugar) Filling for mochi - red bean paste, bananas, ice cream, etc. (optional, but mochi tastes best with filling!) We were blessed to visit Crater Lake on 6/28 Wednesday! This lake is the deepest volcanic lake in the world and the deepest lake in the United States. And, it's so cool and beautiful! (photo taken by Dad) Even in the middle of the summer, with daytime temperatures warm enough to wear T-shirts, there is snow!

Snow in Beijing

It’s snowing in Beijing!  Even though the temperature is quite cold here (at least compared to California), it rarely snows because the weather is dry.  We were all very excited, since snow comes about once a year in Beijing.  After we finished our homework and studies for the day, we went outside to play in the snow.  The snow was very thin, but we still had a lot of fun.  My sister wrote her name on the snow. My brother wrote his Chinese name on the snow. There was snow on the benches and on the bicycles, too. A cat left some footprints in the snow. We made small snow cupcakes by pressing snow into a cup, and then taking the packed snow out.  On one of them, we added a small snow strawberry on top. On another, we added some snow icing. The Shuk in Israel

Whenever someone asks me, "What is your favorite place that you visited in Israel?", I always answer, "The Shuk". "Shuk" means "street market" in Hebrew. I love going to the Shuk. The Shuk is always full of life and bustling with people. It is a very exciting place to visit in Jerusalem. There are the most people in the Shuk on Friday morning. This is because the Shuk closes early on Friday because of Shabbat and everyone needs to buy extra food ahead of time. Here is a picture of one of the emptier streets in the Shuk: Almost every type of food is sold in the Shuk: meat, vegetables, fruit, bread, grains, rice, spices, dessert, candy, and packaged food. The most colorful and attractive shops of the Shuk sell candy. We don't buy candy, but it looks very tempting. OC Fair 2023!

When my siblings and I were younger, our family would go to OC Fair every summer. We have great memories from the Centennial Farm and the Read & Ride program. The last time I went to OC Fair was before the COVID-19 pandemic.  This August 2023, my sisters and I and some friends went to the OC Fair together (the rest of the family wanted to come but weren't able to make it this time). The Lord was SO good to us. We got good parking, the weather was cool, the sky was cloudy, and we had an amazing and memorable time. Selfie at the OC Fair with my sisters! Grand Canyon (6/16)

Tuesday, June 16th 2020 We are in Arizona! We were so blessed to be able to visit the Grand Canyon! "O Lord, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all. The earth is full of Your possessions—" -Psalm 104:26 My family at the Grand Canyon!
