Israel

On our trip to Israel, we flew on an Israeli airline called EL AL. Our first meal had pasta, chicken, pita bread (delicious!), grapes, potato chips, a slice of chocolate cake, and a drink.

After fifteen hours on the airplane, we landed in Israel.  As soon as the airplane touched the ground, almost everyone in the plane shouted and clapped.  Was it because our airplane stayed safe (and in the air) throughout the whole flight?

We went through the customs, got our three tiny luggage (each less than 2 feet tall and 1 foot wide) from the baggage claim, and exited the airport.

The ride to the apartment where we would be staying was quite long.  However, I happened to be sitting next to my brother, who is both a very good comedian and a very good storyteller.  For the whole ride I sat listening to his entertaining story of animals (deer, cows, horses, skunks, and rabbits).

At last, we arrived at our apartment building.  We thanked the driver, paid 384 NIS (for 6 of us), took our luggage, climbed up the stairs, and, of course, entered our apartment.

Our apartment is very nice, and a lot better than we imagined.  We are blessed to be able to stay in such a nice place.  Since this apartment is kosher, we have two separate sinks, one for meat and one for milk (Exodus 23:19b says, "You shall not boil a young goat in its mother's milk." This was interpreted as "Don't eat meat with milk.")

The right sink is for meals eaten with meat, and the left sink is for milk.

There is even a high chair!

Up the stairs.

Exiting the building.

My sister's bunny on our bunk bed.

The hallway (from the living room).  The first door on the left is our bedroom.  The next one is the bathroom, and the farthest door is my parent's bedroom.

  1. Wow Grace, what a nice start to your vacation in Israel. I also remember the clapping upon landing and the sighs of relief that we all made it safely.
Your apartment is really big. Where in Jerusalem is it located? I am starting to know my way around and may know the area.
It's nice you enjoyed your brother...his stories sound like they would be fun to listen to.
Who is doing the cooking? Do the sinks ever get confusing?
What greeted you your first morning out seeing the sights? What is that memory?

    1. Yes, our landing was a great experience. We live on King George street. The location is very convenient, and you can walk to a lot of places. All of us help cook, and we each have our own jobs to do. We adjusted to the sinks quickly, since at home we usually separate the dishes that contain something that my brother is allergic to. We also went to a lot of places in Jerusalem, and I really enjoyed it all.
