Sacramento: Family Conference

     This year, our family went to the Family Conference in Sacramento.  This year's theme was "Trust in the LORD".  My younger sister went to a program called "PRE-EMBASSY", and I went to COMMIT in the morning and Student Sessions in the afternoon.  The rest of our family attended the General Session.

Tuesday

     On the first day of the conference, we registered at around 5:00pm and listened to a few talks that night.

Wednesday

     On the first day of COMMIT, we learned a song called "Still, my soul be still", which we practiced every day and sang at the end of the Conference.  Also, we each received our COMMIT booklet.  Inside the booklet, there were devotionals for each day at the conference and pages for notes.

     We listened to two talks the first day.  The first one was about prayer and spending time with the Lord.  The second one was about living for God.  After each talk, we went outside for "team time".  There, we shared about what we learned from the talk.

Thursday

     On the second day of COMMIT, we reviewed our song again.  This time, we listened to one talk.  It was about spending time with the Lord.

     Since this would be the last day we would have team time, we had a looser schedule and we took team pictures that day.  We also made a craft out of nails and string.  There were many different patterns to choose from.  I made a leaf/plant.

Friday

     Friday was the last day of COMMIT, and we had mother-daughter sessions.  We listened to two talks with our mothers.

     At evening, we performed our song, "Still, my soul be still".  I was also in the choir.
  
     My younger sister attended PRE-EMBASSY.  They learned two songs, Always the Same and 100 percent, which they performed at the Conference.  They also recited two passages that they learned, Jeremiah 17:7-10 and Romans 8:37-39.

Here are some of the things I learned at the Conference:

  • Be content. We brought nothing in to this world, and we will carry nothing out.
  • Keep yourself pure.  Be holy.  Be as far away from temptations as you can.
  • Have a vibrant walk with God.
  • Obey authorities.
  • Prayer is powerful. Spend time every day with the Lord.
  • Submit to the will of God.
  • Be gracious.

Grand Canyon (6/16)

Tuesday, June 16th 2020 We are in Arizona! We were so blessed to be able to visit the Grand Canyon! "O Lord, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all. Highlights from Lava Beds National Monument - part 2

On Thursday 6/29/2023, we visited Lava Beds National Monument again! We got to explore Hopkin's chocolate cave, Golden Dome cave, and Hercules' leg cave.  Enjoy these photos! Outside the caves, there was a sweet butterfly that kept flying around us. Then, it landed on Catherine's helmet and didn't want to leave. I was able to get some beautiful close-up pictures. Here we are outside Golden Dome cave!  Dad outside a cave (I think it's a different one from the one above. It's our car in the background, too!) I think this entrance is called the "headache" entrance or something like that. That is because the entrance is so narrow that people sometimes accidentally bump their head on the ledge! Thankfully we are all on the smaller side and we were careful and didn't bump our heads. Lava Beds National Monument

     Lava Beds National Monument is one of my favorite places that our family visited.  At Lava Beds, many years ago, some volcanoes exploded and formed lava tubes.  These lava tubes are the caves that we visited at the National Monument.      Before exploring a cave, there were some essential things we needed: flashlights (at least one per person), helmets (also one per person), and at least one more person to go with you (we had six in total). This year, we visited a cave called Labyrinth. Going down the ladder to the cave (Labyrinth). This is the rest of my family (I am taking the picture) in the cave. These are my siblings. OC Fair 2023!

When my siblings and I were younger, our family would go to OC Fair every summer. We have great memories from the Centennial Farm and the Read & Ride program. The last time I went to OC Fair was before the COVID-19 pandemic.  This August 2023, my sisters and I and some friends went to the OC Fair together (the rest of the family wanted to come but weren't able to make it this time). The Lord was SO good to us. We got good parking, the weather was cool, the sky was cloudy, and we had an amazing and memorable time. Selfie at the OC Fair with my sisters! Highlights from Lava Beds National Monument - part 1 (6/27/2023 Tuesday)

It's been a while since I last posted on this blog (last post in 2020)! Time has flown by so quickly. For 2020, 2021, and 2022, our family has been blessed to do a fun summer road trip from CA to the east coast. We've been blessed to visit the OH Scriptorium, dear friends, and fun places along the way. This year, we weren't able to make it to the east coast again, but we are doing a short 1-week trip up to northern CA and Oregon.  My family and I were blessed to visit Lava Beds National Monument again! Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument (7/18)

     On the eighteenth of July, we went to Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument.  It erupted in 1980. The lava column shot up 15 miles into the air and rushed down the sides of the mountain. All the plants and animals around the volcano were wiped out.  After the eruption, life returned quickly.  Now, the area is filled with even more animals and plants than before the eruption. However, we didn't get to hike on the mountain itself, because it was closed for research. Mount St. Helens      Since we weren't able to go to Mount St. Helens, we went to Johnston Ridge Observatory.  There, we could see the mountain and also learn about it from movies, exhibits, or rangers. Summer Highlights 2019

It's so hard to believe that it's already the middle of July! Time passes so fast! Summer is half-over already! Highlights of this year's summer: Homeschooling Fair! We had the fun of hosting our own booth this year! Ice Cream and Pie eating contest! Playing basketball at Grijalva Park: Food! (homecooked!) Sweet potato fries (made by Grace) Taking classes at Santiago Canyon College: Weekend trip to San Diego! Bible Bee meetings at our Local Bee!!!! Our trip to Sacramento

At around 5:30 in the morning on Monday, my Dad came into our room and woke us up.  We had everything for the trip prepared the night before, but we hadn't loaded everything into the car. There were also some food in the refrigerator that we needed to bring and many last-minute things we needed to do (like waking up my brother so he could prepare his things).  Around 6:00, we left the house.  In almost no time, the sun was up. Outside the window, the land was parched and dry, but the view was nice. The six of us were not the only ones traveling.  My younger siblings' stuffed animals were also riding on the car. About half-way through the trip, we stopped at a rest station.  We had stopped at this rest station before last year when we went on our road trip.
