To Fuzhou Again!

For Chinese Labor Day, we visited our grandparents and relatives again in Fuzhou.  We rode the High Speed Rail there and back. This time, the weather was warmer than last time (and there were lots of mosquitoes, too).  We also stayed in our grandparents' apartment again.

There are three rooms in the apartment. My younger sister and I share a room.  This is our bedroom window.  The patio on the right side of the window is where we hang our clothes to dry.

This is us (I'm taking the picture), walking to our grandparents' apartment.

In their apartment, my grandparents have a small box filled with old money.  I think the one on the right was ration tickets, but I'm not sure.

Here are some more old money. My Dad said these were the money that they used when they were little.

I asked my Dad if these were worth anything anymore. He said that they were worth nothing.  I thought that was very sad.

Here are all the different kinds of old money all together.

Some very, very, very, nice friends gave us big loquats. They are in season in Fuzhou right now, and taste very good.  However, the bigger loquats, the kind that our very, very, very, nice friends gave us are still very expensive.  The bigger loquats are about 2.5-3 inches long, while the regular ones are about 1.5 inches long.

Fuzhou has lots of peanuts.  They are plentiful in every season of the year (at least from my experience).  Our very, very, very, nice friends gave us a huge 15 pound (my estimation) bag of peanuts.  We separated them into smaller bags.  My brother is allergic to peanuts, but he's fine as long as he doesn't eat them.

We stayed for almost two weeks in Fuzhou.  We rode the High Speed Rail back to Beijing. This picture is from our train window before departure.
