A Day at Seward Park
A place that many friends have recommended us to go to is Seward Park. Seward Park is by a lake, and there are swimming areas. There is also a playground and hiking trails.
The Playground
We spent a lot of time at the playground. This is Anabel on the tight rope:

Succeeded! Good Job!
Theodore gave it a try, too.

You can do it, Theodore!
Yay! Great Job, Theodore!
Catherine had a nice time on the swings.
The best part of the playground was the zipline. We've never been on one in a playground in CA, so this was very special.

We ate lunch and dinner at the park.
Hiking
Then, we went for a hike around the lake.

The scenery around the lake was beautiful, but I think that the most best part of the hike was when we saw the eagle's nest. The eagle was diligently guarding his nest and caring for his young. It reminded me of the verse in Deuteronomy that talks about God's care for His people.
"As an eagle stirs up its nest, hovers over its young, spreading out its wings, taking them up, carrying them on its wings, so the Lord alone led him, and there was no foreign god with him."
-Deuteronomy 32:11-12
The rest of the Deuteronomy 32 goes on to tell about all of God's blessings for his people. Despite God's goodness, His people forsook the Lord and worshiped idols.
Many times, we, too forget about God and His mercy to us. We often turn our eyes to other 'gods', perhaps not the idols that the Israelites worshiped, but the idols of our heart. Self, fame, honor, money, people's praise, test exams, and competitions (even Bible Bee) can all become idols when we put them above God in our lives.
We need to remind ourselves every day of God's care for us and never forget His kindness.
"Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s."
-Psalm 103:1-5 (NKJV)
So touched by your sharing about the eagle's story. The Lord is so faithful in leading you in your faith journey. May you continue to strive to give Him all of your heart. He will lead you to the final destination and bring glory to His name! Love, mom
