Popsicles in Taiwan!

 We got to eat delicious home-made popsicles in Taiwan!

 Popsicles are one of the special local products in this part of Taiwan. 

 Below is Theodore and I in front of the popsicle store:

The word in front of the store, "冰", is pronounced "bing". It means "ice", and it can stand for cold desserts like ice cream, shaved ice, and popsicles..

 Each of us chose a different flavor! Daddy chose durian, Mommy chose taro, Catherine chose pineapple, Anabel chose milk, Theodore chose black sugar, and I chose passion fruit.

 We were very happy that we could find one that Theodore could eat (he has allergy)!

Anabel and Theodore took their time and finished last! :)

 The popsicles were SUPER delicious!!!

 Below are the wrappers of all our popsicles (except for Daddy's). Can you spot the Chinese Character "冰" "bing" on the popsicles?

We got to visit lots of playgrounds in Israel! They are different from the ones in the U.S. and they are really fun! This playground was in the Old City, Jerusalem.  The swing was really fun! The park was really fun! You could slide down and also climb up! Sliding down! There were also two long blue slides! We also got to visit two parks in Tel Aviv. The first park was like an amusement park. It had like 20+ swings! This park also had two of the swings that we saw in Jerusalem! This park also had a giant playground with at least 12 slides! There was something that you could go on and it would take you down to the ground! Near this park in Tel Aviv was another park. It was really fun, too. Making Homemade Sweet Mochi!

Below is the recipe for homemade sweet mochi! This is a great and delicious recipe to try out! Due to the pandemic, many of us are spending more hours at home than we used to. One of the best ways to spend time building your relationships with your family is by cooking something delicious together! Not only will you have fun in the process, but you'll also have a delicious treat to enjoy in the end! Ingredients: Glutinous Rice flour/Sweet Rice flour - 1 cup Water - 3/4 cup Sugar - 3 tablespoons (optional, can exclude to be more healthy) Cornstarch - amount varies (you can also use some other edible powder, like powdered sugar) Filling for mochi - red bean paste, bananas, ice cream, etc. (optional, but mochi tastes best with filling!) Oil - 1/2 tbsp (optional, but this will save you a lot of dishwashing time!) OC Fair 2023!

When my siblings and I were younger, our family would go to OC Fair every summer. We have great memories from the Centennial Farm and the Read & Ride program. The last time I went to OC Fair was before the COVID-19 pandemic.  This August 2023, my sisters and I and some friends went to the OC Fair together (the rest of the family wanted to come but weren't able to make it this time). The Lord was SO good to us. We got good parking, the weather was cool, the sky was cloudy, and we had an amazing and memorable time. Selfie at the OC Fair with my sisters! The Humming Bird Aviary (at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum)

On our way back to California from Texas, we visited the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum! My favorite part of the Museum was the Hummingbird Aviary.  Here are some pictures of the hummingbirds. Enjoy! This little bird was eating from the feeder: Hummingbirds come in all colors, including green! One of the best places to find hummingbirds is next to the feeders. More little hummingbirds... Hummingbirds are small and hard to spot, but it's fun to find them! The best surprise of all: A hummingbird nest!!!

Snow in Beijing

It’s snowing in Beijing!  Even though the temperature is quite cold here (at least compared to California), it rarely snows because the weather is dry.  We were all very excited, since snow comes about once a year in Beijing.  After we finished our homework and studies for the day, we went outside to play in the snow.  The snow was very thin, but we still had a lot of fun.  My sister wrote her name on the snow. My brother wrote his Chinese name on the snow. There was snow on the benches and on the bicycles, too. A cat left some footprints in the snow. We made small snow cupcakes by pressing snow into a cup, and then taking the packed snow out.  On one of them, we added a small snow strawberry on top. On another, we added some snow icing. Grand Canyon (6/16)

Tuesday, June 16th 2020 We are in Arizona! We were so blessed to be able to visit the Grand Canyon! "O Lord, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all. The earth is full of Your possessions—" -Psalm 104:26 My family at the Grand Canyon! Up in the air! Beijing to Vancouver...

We're up in the air again! This time, from Beijing to Vancouver (we'll be transferring there)! The wind was big and strong today, but the sky was blue and the clouds were white and puffy. We waited in the plane for a while, because it was not safe to fly in such a strong wind. Meanwhile, we were busy taking pictures! Freckles the bunny on the plane:  Anabel: As usual, there was a Safety Booklet that taught you about what to do in the case of an emergency. Also located in the pocket of the seat in front of you was a magazine: Air Canada's magazine. The magazine was mostly about duty-free items for sale, advertisements, and news articles, but there was also a fun puzzle inside! There was also a description of the planes in the Air Canada fleet. The Shuk in Israel

Whenever someone asks me, "What is your favorite place that you visited in Israel?", I always answer, "The Shuk". "Shuk" means "street market" in Hebrew. I love going to the Shuk. The Shuk is always full of life and bustling with people. It is a very exciting place to visit in Jerusalem. There are the most people in the Shuk on Friday morning. This is because the Shuk closes early on Friday because of Shabbat and everyone needs to buy extra food ahead of time. Here is a picture of one of the emptier streets in the Shuk: Almost every type of food is sold in the Shuk: meat, vegetables, fruit, bread, grains, rice, spices, dessert, candy, and packaged food. The most colorful and attractive shops of the Shuk sell candy. We don't buy candy, but it looks very tempting. The smaller candy sells at 3 or 4 for 10 shekels. 1 dollar equals 3.67 shekels, so 10 shekels equals 2.73 dollars. Cookies are also sold at the Shuk. They are mo...

Happy Birthday to the BEST younger sister ever!!! Anabel, it's been such a blessing to have you in my life. I am so thankful and privileged to have you as my one and only younger sister. It was YOU who came into my life when I was an 18-month old baby. It was because of YOU that, at 18 months, I was promoted from the status of "baby of the family" to "older sister". You are such a wonderful companion, sister, and friend. We've talked and laughed so much together. As you enter this 13th year of your life, I pray that you will continue to honor God, seek Him, and bring His joy to those around you. And, of course, I  hope that we will celebrate many more birthdays together! Happy Birthday, Anabel!

Highlights from Lava Beds National Monument - part 1 (6/27/2023 Tuesday)

It's been a while since I last posted on this blog (last post in 2020)! Time has flown by so quickly. For 2020, 2021, and 2022, our family has been blessed to do a fun summer road trip from CA to the east coast. We've been blessed to visit the OH Scriptorium, dear friends, and fun places along the way. This year, we weren't able to make it to the east coast again, but we are doing a short 1-week trip up to northern CA and Oregon.  My family and I were blessed to visit Lava Beds National Monument again!
