Playing Basketball in Fuzhou!

Yesterday, we played basketball with our cousin!

Theodore loves playing basketball, and he's pretty good at it, too. He made a lot of shots yesterday!


Below is Catherine shooting a ball. She is very strong, and she plays well, too!

Summer Highlights 2019

It's so hard to believe that it's already the middle of July! Time passes so fast! Summer is half-over already! Highlights of this year's summer: Homeschooling Fair! We had the fun of hosting our own booth this year! Ice Cream and Pie eating contest! Playing basketball at Grijalva Park: Food! (homecooked!) Sweet potato fries (made by Grace) Taking classes at Santiago Canyon College: Weekend trip to San Diego! Bible Bee meetings at our Local Bee!!!! Sacramento: Family Conference

     This year, our family went to the Family Conference in Sacramento.  This year's theme was "Trust in the LORD".  My younger sister went to a program called "PRE-EMBASSY", and I went to COMMIT in the morning and Student Sessions in the afternoon.  The rest of our family attended the General Session. Tuesday      On the first day of the conference, we registered at around 5:00pm and listened to a few talks that night. Wednesday      On the first day of COMMIT, we learned a song called "Still, my soul be still", which we practiced every day and sang at the end of the Conference.  Also, we each received our COMMIT booklet.  Inside the booklet, there were devotionals for each day at the conference and pages for notes. Canada!

On the Road On July 18th, we drove from Seattle to Canada. The drive was about 5 hours. On the road there, Theodore entertained us with stories. Theodore tells stories on the car In Canada We stayed in an Airbnb in Surrey, Canada. Surrey is a city near Vancouver. There were lots of trees around the house. It was like living in the woods. The house looks a lot like a cabin.  The Trampoline There was a trampoline in the backyard. It was our favorite part of the house. Time passes so fast! It's so hard to believe that it's already the end of July! We've all had a great summer studying the book of Psalms through the Bible Bee summer study. In just one week, it'll be August 3rd, our Local Bee's Proclaim! Day. And then, one week after that, it'll be... the Online Nationals Qualifying Test!!! At the Beach in San Diego!

Weekend family trip to San Diego! At the beach... Seashells... Scenery... "The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness,  The world and those who dwell therein.  For He has founded it upon the seas,  And established it upon the waters." -Psalm 24:1-2 There was a hole in the ground that was connected to the ocean. There was a stream in it, and water flowed in and out with the waves.  It was pretty wide - maybe 3 or 4 feet at its width. Catherine decided to go for a challenge and jumped across! Tide pools... There were lots of plants, snails, and little crabs in the tide pools.  I wrote my name in the sand, just for fun. Everything in God's creation is so unique! Pacific Science Center (Seattle)

My favorite part about Science Centers are the interactive displays.  The Pacific Science Center had lots of interactive, hands-on displays! We all had a great time at the Science Center. The Well-body Academy of Health and Wellness is an exhibit for kids that teaches you how to take care of your body and stay in good health. There are four areas in the Well-body exhibit: Food and Nutrition, Sleep, Exercise, and Hygiene. At the Food and Nutrition  area, we learned to eat healthy foods and the correct amount of Calories. In the Sleep  Exhibit, I learned that we need to sleep enough. Exercise is very important for health. Hygiene Let's go upstairs to the WELLBODY LOFT! Exercise well, Eat well, Sleep well, Wash well, and LIVE well! The Age Your Face  Display showed you the bad effects of smoking, UV exposure, and obesity on aging. At the Beach in Tel Aviv

We spent a few days of our time in Israel in Tel Aviv.  Tel Aviv is near the Ancient City of Joppa. I'm sure you all know where that is! Joppa is a port. That is where Jonah fled from to Ninevah! We rode the bus from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv. This is Freckles on the bus: Tel Aviv is by the Mediterranean Sea. It is very warm and humid. The view at the port is beautiful! We even got to see a boat! We also got to see an adorable cat. On our last night in Tel Aviv, Theodore made a tower out of playing cards! He also cooked delicious beef (a big treat because meat in Israel is expensive!) for us for dinner! After that, we went to the beach. At night, Tel Aviv is a shining city. The moon was also very beautiful that night. We also got to see lots of crabs! We also saw a bicycle at the beach! Hinny got to ride on it! The night before our flight

On Monday, the day before we would leave for California, we (I and my two younger siblings) finished packing and decided to go for a walk since we would be leaving soon.  In was summer in Beijing, and there were many cicadas in the trees, like usual. Our friend helped us to take care of the tarantula for the time we would be gone, and another friend took care of our turtle.  Even though we didn't need to catch bugs for our tarantula to eat, we decided to catch some anyway and then let them go. Since we went out at night, many tiny bugs were on the lights.  They were fun to watch and play with. This is us watching the light with the bugs. When we were walking, we something flying in the air. I thought it was a moth, but it wasn't. My brother caught it with a plastic box and we found out that it was a beetle. The Jerusalem March

The Jerusalem March takes place each year during Sukkot (the Feast of Tabernacles) in Jerusalem. People from all over the world (mostly Christians) come to Jerusalem and participate in the Jerusalem March to show their love for Israel. It is really amazing! Anabel and Theodore got lots of flags from the marchers. The ICEJ. There are marchers from all over the world!
