Playing Basketball in Fuzhou!

Yesterday, we played basketball with our cousin!

Theodore loves playing basketball, and he's pretty good at it, too. He made a lot of shots yesterday!


Below is Catherine shooting a ball. She is very strong, and she plays well, too!

Up in the air! Beijing to Vancouver...

We're up in the air again! This time, from Beijing to Vancouver (we'll be transferring there)! The wind was big and strong today, but the sky was blue and the clouds were white and puffy. We waited in the plane for a while, because it was not safe to fly in such a strong wind. Meanwhile, we were busy taking pictures! Freckles the bunny on the plane:  Anabel: As usual, there was a Safety Booklet that taught you about what to do in the case of an emergency. Also located in the pocket of the seat in front of you was a magazine: Air Canada's magazine. The magazine was mostly about duty-free items for sale, advertisements, and news articles, but there was also a fun puzzle inside! There was also a description of the planes in the Air Canada fleet. Highlights from Lava Beds National Monument - part 1 (6/27/2023 Tuesday)

It's been a while since I last posted on this blog (last post in 2020)! Time has flown by so quickly. For 2020, 2021, and 2022, our family has been blessed to do a fun summer road trip from CA to the east coast. We've been blessed to visit the OH Scriptorium, dear friends, and fun places along the way. This year, we weren't able to make it to the east coast again, but we are doing a short 1-week trip up to northern CA and Oregon.  My family and I were blessed to visit Lava Beds National Monument again! Mushpot is a beginner cave with paved paths and lighting inside. Pacific Science Center (Seattle)

My favorite part about Science Centers are the interactive displays.  The Pacific Science Center had lots of interactive, hands-on displays! We all had a great time at the Science Center. The Well-body Academy of Health and Wellness is an exhibit for kids that teaches you how to take care of your body and stay in good health. There are four areas in the Well-body exhibit: Food and Nutrition, Sleep, Exercise, and Hygiene. At the Food and Nutrition  area, we learned to eat healthy foods and the correct amount of Calories. In the Sleep  Exhibit, I learned that we need to sleep enough. Exercise is very important for health. Hygiene Let's go upstairs to the WELLBODY LOFT! Exercise well, Eat well, Sleep well, Wash well, and LIVE well! The Age Your Face  Display showed you the bad effects of smoking, UV exposure, and obesity on aging. Highlights from Lava Beds National Monument - part 2

On Thursday 6/29/2023, we visited Lava Beds National Monument again! We got to explore Hopkin's chocolate cave, Golden Dome cave, and Hercules' leg cave.  Enjoy these photos! Outside the caves, there was a sweet butterfly that kept flying around us. Then, it landed on Catherine's helmet and didn't want to leave. I was able to get some beautiful close-up pictures. Here we are outside Golden Dome cave!  Dad outside a cave (I think it's a different one from the one above. It's our car in the background, too!) I think this entrance is called the "headache" entrance or something like that. That is because the entrance is so narrow that people sometimes accidentally bump their head on the ledge! Thankfully we are all on the smaller side and we were careful and didn't bump our heads. Our trip to Sacramento

At around 5:30 in the morning on Monday, my Dad came into our room and woke us up.  We had everything for the trip prepared the night before, but we hadn't loaded everything into the car. There were also some food in the refrigerator that we needed to bring and many last-minute things we needed to do (like waking up my brother so he could prepare his things).  Around 6:00, we left the house.  In almost no time, the sun was up. Outside the window, the land was parched and dry, but the view was nice. The six of us were not the only ones traveling.  My younger siblings' stuffed animals were also riding on the car. About half-way through the trip, we stopped at a rest station.  We had stopped at this rest station before last year when we went on our road trip. The Shuk in Israel

Whenever someone asks me, "What is your favorite place that you visited in Israel?", I always answer, "The Shuk". "Shuk" means "street market" in Hebrew. I love going to the Shuk. The Shuk is always full of life and bustling with people. It is a very exciting place to visit in Jerusalem. There are the most people in the Shuk on Friday morning. This is because the Shuk closes early on Friday because of Shabbat and everyone needs to buy extra food ahead of time. Here is a picture of one of the emptier streets in the Shuk: Almost every type of food is sold in the Shuk: meat, vegetables, fruit, bread, grains, rice, spices, dessert, candy, and packaged food. The most colorful and attractive shops of the Shuk sell candy. We don't buy candy, but it looks very tempting. The smaller candy sells at 3 or 4 for 10 shekels. 1 dollar equals 3.67 shekels, so 10 shekels equals 2.73 dollars. Cookies are also sold at the Shuk. They are mo...

A Special Birthday

Many, many years ago, on a special day in a special month in a special year, a special, chubby 8-pound baby was born.  She had a special name: Grace. This Grace had an older sister who was 18 months old. Then Grace grew and grew. This is Grace when she was 1 years old: When Grace was 18 months old, she had a new baby sister. She was a big sister now. It wasn't so easy being a big sister. Then, she had her 2nd birthday. 6 months after that, a baby brother came along. Grace was 2 and a half years old. Grace loved her baby brother. Grace kept on growing. She was now 3 and a half. This picture was taken at the museum: Then Grace turned 4. Then 5. Grace's older sister would often take Grace and her siblings on adventures. Then Grace turned 6. This birthday was celebrated in Fuzhou, China. Grace was growing so fast! Then Grace turned 7. Our pets in China

Our family LOVES pets! Here, in China, we have and have had many pets. Our Chilean Rose Tarantula was given to my brother by a friend.  We aren't sure yet if our tarantula is a male or female, but we think its most likely a female.   We feed our tarantula bugs and insects to eat (which my younger brother, my Mom catch) such as katydids, June beetles, butterflies, and more.  Our tarantula also spins webs on the ground.  In the picture, she is on top of her 'cave'.   In the daytime, we cover the tarantula tank with a cloth.  Sometimes the tarantula hides in the cave.  Once, we tried to feed her a small spider, but she didn't see it and stepped over it. In the video, the tarantula is eating a butterfly that my brother caught. One night, after it rained, we went for a walk. My brother caught this katydid in a puddle.
