An unexpected surprise - Flight to China!

God is truly so good to us! On our flight to China in December, we received an unexpected surprise!

God blessed the morning of our flight so that everything went quickly and smoothly – the car ride to the airport, the security check, and finding our boarding gate. We arrived at the gate of our departure over 2 hours early! While we waited for our flight, I read my Bible, wrote in my Bible journal, jotted down a few paragraphs in my diary, and then walked around the airport with my mom. While we were walking around, we found a bookstore! I started reading books, and then I lost track of time...

"Grace, we need to go!" called my brother. I glanced at my watch. Wow! It was 10:00 am! I had been reading for a long time. I knew that boarding started at 10:00 am, and the gate closed at 10:40 am. There was no need to rush, especially because we are in economy class and seated toward the back of the plane.

We walked back to our boarding gate. "They're calling our names!" Catherine told me. Normally they only call the names of people who were late when the plane was ready to depart. Since it was only a few minutes past 10am, there was no way we could be late.

We went to the front desk, and learned that they had upgraded all of us to premium economy for free!!! We always rode economy for all our flights, whether domestic or international, so this was my first time riding premium economy!

The premium economy seats were so much wider and more comfortable. The leg room for premium economy was double the leg room of regular economy. We also received thicker blankets, pillows, and slippers. Each of us were given a travel bag with a tooth brush, tooth paste, socks, ear plugs, lotion, lip balm, and eye shade/eye cover inside! The service, meals, and snacks for regular economy were already really good, but they were even better for premium economy!

Later on when we went home, we looked up the price of premium economy tickets for American Airlines. It would cost over $10,000 to book premium economy tickets for our whole family!

We had a wonderful flight to China. Premium economy was definitely something we couldn’t afford, but God can do anything, and He gave it to us for free! Through “little miracles” like these in everyday life, our wonderful Lord shows us how much He loves us.

One of the flight attendants told us that her husband is Israeli. We made a card for her and her husband to show God's love for them, and let them know that the Lord still cares about His people.

When my siblings and I were younger, our family would go to OC Fair every summer. We have great memories from the Centennial Farm and the Read & Ride program. Grand Canyon (6/16)

Tuesday, June 16th 2020 We are in Arizona! We were so blessed to be able to visit the Grand Canyon! "O Lord, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all. Highlights from Lava Beds National Monument - part 1 (6/27/2023 Tuesday)

It's been a while since I last posted on this blog (last post in 2020)! Time has flown by so quickly. For 2020, 2021, and 2022, our family has been blessed to do a fun summer road trip from CA to the east coast. We've been blessed to visit the OH Scriptorium, dear friends, and fun places along the way. This year, we weren't able to make it to the east coast again, but we are doing a short 1-week trip up to northern CA and Oregon.  My family and I were blessed to visit Lava Beds National Monument again! Crater Lake National Park

We were blessed to visit Crater Lake on 6/28 Wednesday! This lake is the deepest volcanic lake in the world and the deepest lake in the United States. And, it's so cool and beautiful! (photo taken by Dad) Even in the middle of the summer, with daytime temperatures warm enough to wear T-shirts, there is snow!

Highlights from Lava Beds National Monument - part 2

On Thursday 6/29/2023, we visited Lava Beds National Monument again! We got to explore Hopkin's chocolate cave, Golden Dome cave, and Hercules' leg cave.  Enjoy these photos! Outside the caves, there was a sweet butterfly that kept flying around us. Then, it landed on Catherine's helmet and didn't want to leave. I was able to get some beautiful close-up pictures. Here we are outside Golden Dome cave!  Dad outside a cave (I think it's a different one from the one above. It's our car in the background, too!) I think this entrance is called the "headache" entrance or something like that. That is because the entrance is so narrow that people sometimes accidentally bump their head on the ledge! A Special Birthday

Many, many years ago, on a special day in a special month in a special year, a special, chubby 8-pound baby was born.  She had a special name: Grace. This Grace had an older sister who was 18 months old. Then Grace grew and grew. This is Grace when she was 1 years old: When Grace was 18 months old, she had a new baby sister. She was a big sister now. It wasn't so easy being a big sister. Then, she had her 2nd birthday. 6 months after that, a baby brother came along. Grace was 2 and a half years old. Grace loved her baby brother. Grace kept on growing. She was now 3 and a half. This picture was taken at the museum: Then Grace turned 4. Then 5. Sneek peeks of Huntington Beach Local Bee!

Here are some sneak peeks of all the fun we are having at Huntington Beach Local Bee this summer! Every Sunday since June 2nd, 20-some contestants and their families get together at Huntington Beach to study for the Bible Bee together! Our Local Bee's wonderful hosts are two sisters, Kristie and Joanna Tang! Huntington Beach Local Bee: Kristi, Julianna, Anabel, Hannah, Bethany Huntington Beach Local Bee: Theodore, Joshua, Daniel Contestant Introductions! (6/2- Anabel) Each Local Bee meeting begins with a lesson, which is usually about the Unit we studied in the Discovery Journal for the week. Kristie and Joanna (our co-hosts) pull names out of a hat each week. Whoever's name is pulled out gets to go up on stage and recite a passage in front of everyone! Israel

On our trip to Israel, we flew on an Israeli airline called EL AL. Our first meal had pasta, chicken, pita bread (delicious!), grapes, potato chips, a slice of chocolate cake, and a drink.  After fifteen hours on the airplane, we landed in Israel.  As soon as the airplane touched the ground, almost everyone in the plane shouted and clapped.  Was it because our airplane stayed safe (and in the air) throughout the whole flight? We went through the customs, got our three tiny luggage (each less than 2 feet tall and 1 foot wide) from the baggage claim, and exited the airport.  The ride to the apartment where we would be staying was quite long.  However, I happened to be sitting next to my brother, who is both a very good comedian and a very good storyteller.  For the whole ride I sat listening to his entertaining story of animals (deer, cows, horses, skunks, and rabbits). Animals in Israel

We got to see lots of Animals in Israel! We especially got to see lots of adorable cats. There was a time when there were too many mice in Israel. So, they imported lots of cats. The mice population died down. The cats stayed. We visited a family in Migdal. They showed us their pet turtle and let us ride on their horse Dusty. We also got to see many birds in Israel. There were many birds in the Old City of Jerusalem and at the Western Wall. They liked to sit in the cracks of the Old walls. In Tel Aviv, we got to see lots of crabs at the beach. There were gray-speckled crabs and even white crabs! Watch this video to see the crabs walking! We also saw lions in the Old City!
